V for Vendetta is an American German action movie directed by James McTeigue and written by Wachowski brothers. It is purely based on the novel in the same name written by Alan Moore and David Lloyd. The backdrop of the film is based in London. It talks about patriotism and old history. Nathalie Portman is seen in the leading lady role whereas Hugo Reaving, Stephen Rea and John Hurt are seen in the supporting roles. The film was distributed by Warner Bros pictures. It was about to be released by them on 4 November 2005 in the US. However, because of some issues the date shifted to 17 March 2006. The movie triggered great controversy. It was however appreciated by the critics and the audience alike at the time of release. It was a box office blockbuster too. It earned 132 million USD in its entire theatrical run as against the meager 54 million dollars employed in the making of this film. The performance by Nathalie Portman was received warmly by everyone. The movie has a amazing rating of 8.2 on IMDb and was listed under Top 250 position at rank of #149 with 4 wins & 17 nominations.
